Hello!
I’m Devin, and I’m a writer and reporter, working at the intersection of journalism and art. (See this, done in collaboration with Emily C. Martinez and/or this, made with my favorite animator, Ian Boone.) I spent more than ten years covering immigration in Arizona and Sonora, mostly as an immigration correspondent at the NPR station in Phoenix, but now live in Portland and write about housing and houselessness, which is the focus of this Substack. My stories have appeared in/on: Marketplace, The World, BBC’s Newshour, LA Weekly, and The American Prospect, and writing about my writing has appeared in the L.A. Times, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Tucson Weekly, and Capital & Main.
